John Elliott, vice president and dean of the Zicklin School of Business, joined the Board of Directors of Neuberger Berman, an asset management and investment firm, last April. Elliott, who also holds the Irwin and Arlene Ettinger Chair in Accountancy, joined the Baruch faculty in 2002 after serving as the associate dean of academic affairs at Cornell University's Johnson School of Management.
"Neuberger Berman is proud to have an individual of such stature serve on our board. In his distinguished career, John Elliott has proven himself to be not only a leading scholar but a seasoned administrator. His expertise in accounting and his administrative experience add complementary strengths to the board and benefit all Neuberger Berman stockholders," said Jeffrey Lane, president and CEO of the investment firm.
"I am delighted to serve on the Board of Neuberger Berman," said Elliott. "This firm has the highest integrity and ethical values." A 63-year-old company, Neuberger Berman manages over $56.1 billion in assets. Noting the close relationship between Baruch and Neuberger Berman, Elliott observed, "Neuberger Berman has had many Baruch graduates in its leadership ranks. The firm is a leader in corporate governance, with Larry Zicklin ('57, LHD [Hon.] '99) as a nonexecutive chairman and the majority of its board as independent directors."
A well-respected scholar who has served on the editorial boards of major accounting journals, Elliott earned an MBA from the University of Maryland in 1972 and a PhD in accounting from Cornell University in 1982. OF
