The Wasserman Trading Floor operates as a high-tech, hands-on instructional classroom. It provides students and faculty access to real-time financial data, professional research tools, and leading analytic software. At other times, the floor is a lab for use by students and faculty.

Classes held in the center conduct closed simulations based on existing software as well as on-line data feeds from major market data sources. These systems provide a close analogue to real trading and are an effective hands-on learning tool to complement classroom finance theory. To simulate the "big picture" of a trading system, the trading floor environment includes the following:

• Desktop: what you see on the broker's desktop including real-time quotes, pricing with real-time quotes, financial analysis and models, risk management, and relevant news releases. 
• Pre-trade applications: pre-trade strategies, order entry, credit validation. 
• Trade execution: order routing, order matching, legal compliance. 
• Trade Management: trade confirmation, management of allocation instructions, post trade aggregation, generation of settlement instruction, legal compliance. 
• Clearing and Settlement: links to the back office for balancing the customer's book, links to the clearing house, links to the custodian (for customers).
