Emerging Scholars Workshop description and information

AIMS AND SCOPE

The 2002 The Emerging Scholars Workshop comprises a full day's program for those with limited experience in conducting and publishing research related to accounting and the public interest, ethics, professionalism and gender. Sessions planned for the workshop include "Publishing your critical research", "Teaching with a public interest orientation", and "Managing your career". The workshop will emphasize presentations from experienced researchers, small group discussions (where each group will be led by an experienced researcher) and plenary sessions. In addition, there will be at least one session during the main CPA conference when participants in the New Scholars Workshop will have the opportunity to meet and discuss their experiences at the conference.

LOCATION AND DATES

The workshop will be held at the Baruch College conference facilities all day on Thursday, April 25, 2002. The main CPA Conference will be held from the evening of April 25 until the afternoon of April 27, 2002. Applications for participation should comprise a curriculum vitae, a text of no more than 250 words describing the applicant's interest in attending the Workshop and main Conference. Selection will be based on each candidate's records based on the information provided. PARTICIPATION IN THE MAIN CPA CONFERENCE

Participants to the New Scholars Workshop will be expected to register for the main CPA Conference. Although not required, participants at the Workshop are encouraged to submit and present a paper at the main Conference
